A Kimono for All Seasons

I love a bit of boho in the summer months; long floaty dresses with greek sandals are my epitome of sun drenched fashion. But its hard to make the look work in these colder, dreary days…

However! I spotted this Kimono from Free People recently and was drawn to its floaty chiffon fabric, but more than anything the gorgeous long sleeves that dreams are made of. I decided to give it a go and see if I could style it with my winter wardrobe.

Its a really beautiful mid weight chiffon. The sleeves are to die for – perfectly weighted, they fall beautifully. The hem is left raw but has a 12 inch frill which gives it a real prettiness and works as a design detail.

Many fashion stylists have been talking about a new trend of wearing pretty dresses over jeans. For me, this bulks up my outfit too much, but this Kimono achieves a similar effect without adding too many layers. It works brilliantly with coats – both maxi and midi, and much like a long dress, can be worn with most types of footwear, including trainers, buckled boots, ranch boots and a heel.

Heres a few shots of me playing around with different styles. Watch this space for some summer styling in a few months when the weather warms up – the Kimono is going to work brilliantly over cut off denim shorts and also a strappy vest dress for evening wear.

I am pretty pleased with it, I have to say!

Kimono – Free People £89.95 – sadly sold out now, but they have a nice selection that are still available. Free People ship from the USA so it took just over a week to arrive. Import duties were included in the price.
